SEN PMLD TA (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties) – Birmingham
We are currently working with one of our partner schools for Special Needs in Birmingham to recruit an SEN Teaching Assistant supporting Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties – particularly Autism.
This is a large Special School for pupils with severe and complex special needs. The school has recently moved into a new purpose built building with impressive state of the art facilities and prides itself on providing a Creative Curriculum. Educational visits in the local community around Walsall, play a key part in pupil’s learning – supported by a large number of SEN Teaching Assistants. Teaching Assistants play a vital role in the school, supporting complex care needs and learning support, following Individual Care Plans and Individual Educational Plans.
The pupils at the school are statemented for Autism (ASD) or severe learning difficulties (SLD) and they may have challenging behaviour. An understanding of the issues associated with complex needs and emotional and social difficulties is desirable.

Candidates must have:
Essential:
.NVQ Level 3 or equivalent and graduates also welcome to apply
.A good understanding of issues surrounding Special Needs
.Details of at least two referees
.At least 3 months recent experience in an SEN setting – preferably an SEN school
.An enhanced CRB disclosure or undergo an enhanced CRB disclosure prior to appointment
.A commitment to furthering the learning and development of pupils with PMLD is essential.
Desirable:
.Manual Handling Cert
.TEAM TEACH Cert
.Skilled at using PECS or Makaton
.A positive, enthusiastic attitude and a willingness to learn
.The flexibility to work as part of a caring team
